A state audit from Utah has found millions of dollars in reporting errors at the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
The audit was released Tuesday and shows that the problems stem from financial reporting, but DABC director has said that there is no money missing.
The audit was presented to the state liquor commission and found that the DABC did not record approximately $216 million in revenue or $118 million in the cost of goods.
These material inconsistencies went on from July 2016 until January 2017. The Salt Lake Tribune reportsthat simultaneously during this time, many restaurant and bar owners complained that they were unable to get accurate liquor shipments.
The audit also suggested improvements in the agency’s Finance Division, which appears to lack knowledge of retail and government accounting.
