Resort World Names Casino Industry Veteran As President

The Strip’s newest mega resort has chosen a Las Vegas native and casino veteran to be its leader as it heads into its next phase of construction.

Resorts World Las Vegas announced that Edward Farrell has been appointed president of the $4 billion project. Resorts World is a 3,000-room endeavor scheduled to open in 2010 where the Stardust once was located.

Farrell told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that tower cranes will be installed over the next 90 days to begin work on the casino podium and hotel towers beginning in the third quarter. Once the resort opens, Farrell said it will hire 3,000 union employees for daily operations. Farrell is a Chaparral High School and University of Nevada graduate
