Police Used Stun Gun, Chokehold In Fatal Las Vegas Strip Arrest

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say an unarmed man has died after police officers used a stun gun and chokehold to subdue him during an arrest on the Las Vegas Strip.

Vegas police said the arrest happened about 1 a.m. Sunday near The Venetian casino-hotel.

Police said uniformed officers tried to stop the man but he ran off on foot and a stun gun was used as he tried to get into a vehicle.

Police said he was still resisting arrest when an officer then used an approved "Lateral Vascular Neck Restraint" control technique to subdue him.

The man lost consciousness and later died at a hospital.

The Clark County coroner's office hasn't released the man's identity.

The Office of Internal Oversight and Constitutional Policing are investigating.
