Democrats May Gain Seats In Utah Legislature

Close contests in a handful of state legislative races are giving Democrats an opening to pick up a few seats in Utah's GOP-dominated Legislature.

Results as of Wednesday afternoon showed three incumbent Republicans, Sophia DiCaro of West Valley City, LaVar Christensen of Draper and Bruce Cutler of Murray, all trailing Democratic challengers in their races for Utah's House of Representatives.

One Democratic incumbent, Rep. Brad King of Price, was trailing to a Republican challenger but the race was too close to call.
