The mayor of a Utah town is being investigated on wildlife hunting charges after two other men were accused of poaching deer from his property in Kane County, authorities said.
Hurricane Mayor John Wayne Bramall was arrested, processed and released Oct. 27 at the Kane County jail on two counts of suspicion of aiding or assisting in a wildlife violation, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources told the Deseret News.
Bramall declined comment Friday to The Associated Press and referred questions to his attorney, Ryan Stout, in St. George. Stout did not immediately respond to a telephone message seeking comment.
The newspaper reported Thursday that formal charges were not immediately filed.
Division Capt. Mitch Lane told the newspaper the investigation follows the Oct. 22 arrests of West Point residents Gordon Wesley Marble and John Wesley Marble with two deer, including one that qualified as a trophy animal.
