Utah Unemployment At Highest Rate Since 2014

Utah's unemployment rate grew to 4 percent last month, the highest rate since early 2014.

Carrie Mayne, an economist at the state Department of Workforce Services, said in a statement Friday that the jobless rate is up two tenths of a percent because more workers are returning to the labor marked and searching for employment. She says the state's economy is growing.

The national unemployment rate also rose two tenths of a percent in June to 4.9 percent.

Workforce Services says there are about 59,200 Utah residents who are unemployed and looking for work.
