Las Vegas Inmate Dies

Nevada prison officials say an inmate has died.

The Nevada Department of Corrections says 38-year-old Robert James Keil died at a Las Vegas hospital at about 8 a.m. Sunday.

According to officials, Keil was serving 19 to 48 months for possession of a controlled substance.

The department did not say why he was brought to the hospital.

Keil was housed in the Casa Grande Transitional Housing facility.

The dorm-style facility is for non-violent, non-sex crime inmates who are within 18 months of parole eligibility.

Keil was sentenced in November 2015.

The Clark County Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
