Police Catch Robbery Suspect With Help From Hidden Tracker

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a tracker that was hidden in stolen cash helped lead them to an armed robbery suspect tied to the thefts of more than 10 convenience stores.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Gregory Vancott was arrested last week after police pulled him over in his vehicle.

Police had been looking for a suspect in connection with 11 convenience store robberies between April 7 and May 24. The suspect was described as an armed man who wore masks.

Officers had responded to a May 24 robbery when they received a signal from the tracker, which led them to Vancott. Police say they found him with a bag full of money and a gun.

Vancott allegedly told police he was unemployed and wanted to provide for his family.
