Several Thousand Reno Customers Lose Power During High Winds

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Windy weather is blamed for an electrical fire and power outage that affected several thousand Reno-area residents.

NV Energy spokeswoman Faye Anderson says electricity was interrupted about 1:15 p.m. Monday in the southwest Reno area, but most customers had power restored by about 2 p.m.

The National Weather Service says winds were gusting at the time to about 40 mph, and Anderson says utility officials think winds that might have damaged equipment on a power pole.
