LAS VEGAS (AP) — Though Clark County has asked drivers with rideshare companies Uber and Lyft not to work at the Las Vegas airport, Uber says it has been reimbursing drivers who were cited.
The Las Vegas Sun reports that the companies have instructed their drivers to comply with the county's order to cease operations at McCarran International Airport since launching in the city last week.
The companies need an airport operating permit to do business at McCarren.
Uber confirmed that it was paying its drivers' citations in Las Vegas on a case-by-case basis. Lyft declined to say whether it was paying its drivers' citations.
The businesses launched last week despite Clark County commissioners denying temporary business licenses they requested. The county is working on language for a new business license ordinance expected to be considered Oct. 20.
