Nevada Insurance Commissioner Announces Plans To Resign

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Commissioner of Insurance is announcing his resignation after serving in the post for five years.

Scott J. Kipper said Thursday that he'd be leaving the job effective July 2. Agency officials didn't give a specific reason for the move.

Kipper served as commissioner starting in 2008 and took a break for about a year before being reappointed in 2011. He previously worked in insurance regulation in Louisiana and Oregon.

The Division of Insurance is responsible for regulating Nevada's $12 billion insurance industry. It also played a major role in implementing the Affordable Care Act.
