Judicial Misconduct

On Friday, District Judge Valorie Vega was charged with three counts of judicial misconduct. The judge denies she did anything wrong but does concede that there were procedural irregularities. What constitutes judicial misconduct? How much leeway does a judge have to control a trial? Do judges sometimes think it's all about them?
