Sporting Events Suspended Because Of Coronavirus Concerns

Sports events around Nevada are canceling over concerns about the spread of the coronavirus.

The Vegas Golden Knight’s season is on hold because the NHL suspended the season.

The league said in a statement that they will resume play as soon as it is appropriate and prudent.

The Mountain West Conference, which includes UNLV and UNR, suspended all athletic competition because of coronavirus concerns.

The events involved in the suspension include baseball, softball, women’s track and field, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s golf and women’s tennis.

The action comes a day after the two schools issued a joint statement that spring sports events would played without spectators.

The Western Athletic Conference and Pac-12 basketball tournaments that were underway in Las Vegas were also canceled Thursday, joining several others across the country.
