Health District Announces First Death In Clark County From COVID-19

The first death from the novel coronavirus has been reported in Clark County.

The Southern Nevada Health District announced Monday there are now 35 cases and one person has died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

The patient who died was a man in his 60s and he had an underlying health condition.

In a statement, Acting Chief Health Officer of the health district Dr. Fermin Leguen said, “This loss of life is a tragedy, and we want to express our condolences to the family. We must continue to emphasize how important it is to protect those who are most vulnerable to the impacts of the virus and urge our community to support the public health measures and recommendations that are in place.”

Washoe County announced five more cases over the weekend.
