Train-Tanker Collision Spills Diesel Fuel On Nevada Highway

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Highway Patrol says approximately 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto a highway when a Union Pacific freight train struck the end of a tanker truck that didn't clear the tracks in time to avoid a collision.

The Highway Patrol says nobody was injured in the crash Saturday on State Route 306 about 45 miles southwest of Elko in a rural area of northeastern Nevada.

According to the Highway Patrol, an environmental services company was summoned to clean up the diesel fuel and the crash would be investigated by Union Pacific with assistance by the Highway Patrol.
