Nevada Gets $40K US Grant To Improve Pedestrian Safety

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The state of Nevada has won a $40,000 federal grant to make streets safer for pedestrians.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the awarding of the grant Monday to the Nevada Department of Public Safety.

Reno police say the money will be used to provide increased pedestrian awareness and enforcement. They say it should help reduce pedestrian injuries and fatalities.

The grant funding officially began Oct. 1, effective through Sept. 30, 2019.
