Nevada Students Part Of National Walkout For Gun Control

High School students in Clark County joined students around the country in a walkout protest Wednesday to demand tougher gun laws in the country, and honor victims of last month’s mass shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Protests took place at more than a dozen Clark County high schools and UNLV.

Las Vegas Academy student Tanya Abarico told KNPR that the protest was not intended to be a rebellion against their school.

“We just wanted to make it very clear that we weren’t rebelling against our school," she said, "We wanted to work with our school to fight a greater power. So we have had people who want to do other things, who want to take this further so that’s I think the main feedback we received.”
