Amid active negotiations, Health Services Coalition members rallied outside of Valley Hospital Tuesday night, demanding a fair healthcare contract.

They’re protesting what they claim are rising costs and price gouging by Valley Health System, which owns over half the total hospital beds in Las Vegas.

Valley Health is a healthcare provider for the Health Services Coalition, which helps insure more than 300,000 union members and their families across Nevada. They include 120,000 people in the Culinary Workers Union.

Pablo Leos, vice president of Local 797 Plasterers and Cement Workers, spoke at the rally. He said the coalition is not afraid to end its partnership with Valley Health System.

“We've been through this before, and there have been times we’ve had trouble with these greedy hospitals," Leos said. "We’ve had to cut them out of our network.”

Valley Health System did not respond to KNPR’s request for comment.

If no agreement is reached by January 1, 2026, the coalition said it would consider all 16 Valley Health facilities out of network for its members.
