The organizers of Burning Man will assist the federal Bureau of Land Management in conducting an environmental impact study of the event’s impact on the Black Rock Desert.
The study is part of the process of applying for a new ten-year permit to continue holding the event.
The new analysis will evaluate the potential impact on Black Rock of possible changes in the size of Burning Man.

Currently, the festival’s maximum size is set at 70,000 participants, and the new environmental impact statement will take effect in 2019. The BLM will hold a set of public hearings on the study next month.
