Utah legislators and anti-pornography advocates say children's minds are being damaged in a world where graphic sexual images are one click away.
A host of speakers including Gov. Gary Herbert and state Sen. Todd Weiler spoke Tuesday during a ceremonial signing of a state resolution declaring pornography a public health crisis.
Gov. Herbert recognized it's a bold assertion but said Utah wants to take the lead sounding a voice of warning about the harms of pornography.
Weiler said the resolution doesn't interfere with anybody's rights, but called it a plague because children are being exposed to hard-core pornography.
Critics say Utah is overstating the effects of pornography, which can be a healthy sexual outlet for adults.
The resolution doesn't change any laws or include any funding for new programs.
