DMV's DashPass Continues In Carson City And Rural Areas

Jul 23, 2015

CARSON CITY (AP) — The Department of Motor Vehicles is allowing its "DashPass" system to continue in Carson City and in the state's rural offices.

The Nevada Appeal reports that the DMV recently announced it would get rid of the electric system at offices in Las Vegas and Reno. The system allows people to skip long lines in the office and make appointments through their phone.

Agency director Troy Dillard says 20 percent of people who checked into the virtual line didn't show up, and technicians were wasting time waiting for the no-shows.

But spokesman David Fierro says DashPass will remain in operation in Carson City and in rural areas, where they've experienced fewer problems.

Dillard says 93 new employees will be working by September to further cut down on wait times.
