NASA is looking for volunteers to test its Mars simulator for a year

A MARTÍNEZ, HOST:

Good morning. I'm A Martínez. NASA is looking for four volunteers to spend a year living on Mars. And by that, NASA means a 1,700-square-foot replica of the red planet's habitat at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. Mars Dune Alpha will simulate resource limitations, equipment failures, communication delays and a lot of other things meant to stress you out, all so that NASA can better prepare astronauts for future missions to Mars. Applications are due by April 2. It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
