NV Dept. Of Corrections Investigating Inmate Death As Suicide

Nevada prison officials say they're investigating the death of a 28-year-old inmate who was found dead in his cell as an apparent suicide.

The Nevada Department of Corrections says in a statement that Sal Auditore was found early Wednesday hanging from a bed sheet tied to the upper bunk in his cell in the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City.

Officials say prison staff members and Carson City firefighters couldn't resuscitate him.

Records show that Auditore was sentenced in December 2014 in Washoe County District Court to up to 14 years in prison for convictions on burglary and counterfeiting charges.

Prison officials say an autopsy is scheduled by the Carson City coroner.
