Data storage center company Switch is suing Nevada electricity regulators and NV Energy after it says it got an unfair deal when it tried to leave the grid.
The Las Vegas-based company filed the lawsuit Tuesday in federal court in Nevada. It's seeking at least $30 million in damages.
Switch applied to leave NV Energy and buy power directly from a solar company in 2014. Regulators allowed the company to strike the deal, but with NV Energy as a pass-through agency.
Other companies have since been authorized to leave the grid if they pay an exit fee.
Switch argues the process was biased and says the PUC's former attorney unlawfully tweeted about their ongoing case under a pseudonym.
PUC and NV Energy officials didn't immediately respond to requests for comment.
