The Nevada Department of Corrections is asking for more money.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the agency in charge of Nevada's prisons wants some $1.25 million in funding from a state contingency fund.
The proposal is set to be made Tuesday during a meeting of the Nevada Board of Examiners.
The Department of Corrections is making the request to cover medical care for inmates and to increase staffing at the Florence McClure Women's Correctional Center.
Also on the agenda is a contract for a firm to provide kosher meals to Nevada prisons, both for Jewish inmates and for others who have religious-based dietary restrictions.
