Former Clark County Commissioner Expected To Face Drunk Driving Charge

A former Clark County commissioner is expected to face a drunken driving charge following his arrest late Friday in Las Vegas.

Tom Collins, a 65-year-old former state lawmaker who lives in North Las Vegas, was booked about 7:50 p.m. Friday at the Clark County jail under his full name, Clarence Weldon Collins.

The self-styled "cowboy" commissioner and rancher had apparently been attending the National Finals Rodeo, where he posted photos to Twitter a short time before his arrest.

Charges weren't immediately filed, and Collins was freed from jail pending an initial court appearance. His court date wasn't immediately known.

He didn't immediately respond to a message Sunday.

Collins resigned in August from the commission, citing unspecified family matters.

He has said he used to be a rodeo cowboy and bull-rider.
