State prison officials say a 69-year-old inmate serving 20 years to life for murder in Reno has died at a hospital in Carson City.
The Nevada Department of Corrections said Tuesday the Carson City coroner is investigating the death on Monday of Michael Grendell at Carson Tahoe Medical Center.
The department says Grendell had been in prison since April 1995.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine his cause of death.
Prison officials say Grendell was convicted in Washoe County of first-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon.
