The Las Vegas Aces had a disappointing night in Brooklyn, NY, on June 30. They lost their shot at the Commissioner’s Cup championship, falling to the New York Liberty 85 to 93.

After trailing the Liberty for nearly the entire game, Aces coach Becky Hammon says, the team wasn’t able to make the right moves to secure the win. “I thought we had multiple opportunities to win and make some plays to change the outcome, and it just didn’t go our way,” she said, during the post-game press conference.

Both teams were playing for their second shot at the title, which the Aces last won in 2022.

“We need one more player to have like a big game,” Hammon says, “And we just weren’t able to do it tonight.”

The Aces were without their key player, A’ja Wilson, who rolled her ankle in a recent win against the Chicago Sky. Wilson is slated to return later this week, according to Hammon.
