Through June 6
Left of Center is pleased to present Ephemeral Recomposition, artwork by Jeannie Hua. As seen through the eyes of an immigrant, starting from the age of eight, Jeannie Hua had worked to assimilate and strive for the American dream. Art had been her constant companion, an outlet to work through public and personal tragedies. Picking up the pieces after experiencing a breakdown, and piecing back together a life during recovery, Jeannie uses scraps of ephemera to make her images serve as an analogy, a parallel to the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle we are all a part of, each piece integral to the big picture.
Through June 13
Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged "newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right!
Shows run May 29-30, June 3-6, and June 10-13.
