You're ready for summer, Nevada. But are your pets?

We take great pains to protect ourselves in the extreme heat of Nevada's summer — are we doing the same for our pets?

For this one-hour Wednesday edition of State of Nevada, a veterinarian, pet trainer, and shelter director joined us to give advice and take questions from our state's large community of pet companions.

What should you be doing differently in 100-plus degree weather to keep your finned, feathered and four-legged family members safe and happy? How hot is too hot to walk a dog on the sidewalk? How do we make sure our cat is drinking enough water? And what’s the protocol with pets and swimming pools?

Guests: Lori Heeran, executive director, Nevada SPCA; Shadi Ireifej, founder and chief medical officer, Vet Triage; Joanna Moritz, owner and trainer, Fur & Feather Works
