About 150,000 graduate assistants in this country are part of a union. That’s about 38% of all grad students, and Nevada is about to join them.

At least, that’s what grad assistants here are working toward. They’ve voted to unionize and just delivered letters of intent to administrators at UNLV, UNR and the Desert Research Institute.

So, what do the student workers want? And what will it cost the university?

Krista Diamond, a graduate assistant at UNLV, and Akhila Gopal, a graduate assistant at UNR, represent those students.

Guests: Krista Diamond, graduate assistant, UNLV; Akhila Gopal, graduate assistant, UNR
