It’s researched. It’s proven. Crime increases during the hotter summer months.

Just take a look locally: A few weeks ago, a domestic dispute ended when a man shot and killed five people, later taking his own life.

Over six days earlier this month, police shot three suspects —they had four shootings from January through May.

Then we have the Fourth of July tomorrow. Neighborhoods turn into mini war zones with illegal fireworks blasting the ground and zipping through the air. The threat of fires when it’s this tinder box dry are heightened.

But it’s hot. Everyone’s frustrated, even police. Do they want to respond to a little call like illegal fireworks?
