Think you know the best place to eat, drink, or see a movie in Vegas? Think again.

Las Vegas is a big, fast-growing place, so many of its residents are still very new.

Deciding where to get your hair done — or where to spend an afternoon with the kids — can be overwhelming. And getting to anywhere in Vegas is complicated by the additional drivers and endless road construction. People prefer to stay close to home.

But what are those best places to see a movie, eat dinner, find a new favorite drink or work out in your neighborhood?

The current issue of Desert Companion, Nevada Public Radio's city-regional magazine, has just published the 2023 edition of its long-running Best of the City guide, with numerous recommendations for things to see and do. And this time, it’s sorted into nine major neighborhoods.

Several writers of the feature joined State of Nevada to talk about their picks and observations.
