As the House nears a vote to end the 42-day shutdown, Harry Reid Airport faces delays. Meanwhile, rumors of a Treasure Island show are dismissed, and the Giving Machine returns.

The Daily Rundown - November 12th, 2025

🛫 Harry Reid International Airport continues to experience flight cancellations and delays as one of the airports across the country where fewer flights are being allowed by the Federal Aviation Administration. The cutbacks, up to 6 percent starting yesterday, are intended to relieve the strain on air traffic controllers, who are not getting paid during the government shutdown.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy cautioned that restoring normal flight schedules will be slow even after the shutdown ends, which could happen soon. The airlines get to choose which flights to cancel. Most U.S. airlines say they will contact customers whose flights are canceled or delayed. International routes are least likely to be affected, officials say. Read why flight disruptions could linger even after the government reopens.

🏴‍☠️ The Treasure Island pirate show is not returning, contrary to rumors circulating online. A casino representative said that while they appreciate the excitement generated by the idea, there are no plans to bring the show back. Popular with locals and tourists, The Sirens of TI was last performed in October 2013. It replaced the original show, The Battle of Buccaneer Bay, in 2003.

⛰️ Valley of Fire State Park will open a new Visitor Center on Saturday. Nevada State Parks says it is a $30 million investment in preserving Nevada's natural and cultural heritage, made possible with state funds and donations. The visitor center is designed to elevate the visitor experience, promote education and inspire future generations to connect with Nevada's unique landscapes and history, they say. The 46,000-acre state park is about 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas.

🤝 Giving Machines are back in Southern Nevada. Starting today and running through January 1st, visitors to Downtown Summerlin and the District at Green Valley Ranch will be able to purchase an item or service from Light the World Giving Machine for clients of a local nonprofit. This year those include Baby’s Bounty, The Salvation Army of Southern Nevada, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada and Helping Hands of Vegas Valley.

Items include baby bottles, a pediatric cancer hat, and food bundles. There are also items available for people in other parts of the world, including a baby goat and a school water filtration system. Last year Southern Nevadans donated nearly $600,000 in goods and services.

The Las Vegas Aviators won their Minor League Baseball league title this year. The last time the team won Pacific Coast League was 1988. In the game where they clinched the title, Luke Mann hit a key three-run home run in order to give the Aviators some much needed breathing room: extending a 4 - 3 lead over the Tacoma Rainiers to 7 - 3, the final score. Host Xander Pippin interviews Mann, searching for keys to success in high-pressure situations like these. Hear the full story.
