Nevada's abortion rights supporters, anti-abortion advocates talk push to regulate anti-abortion centers

Dave Berns/KNPR

In Las Vegas, there are doctors who perform abortions, there’s Planned Parenthood and then there are "pregnancy crisis centers."

And in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, this has become an issue that electeds in Congress are lining up to fight.

Democrats in the U.S. Senate recently introduced legislation to penalize pregnancy clinics that provide false information to pregnant women.

And before that, Republican senators introduced a resolution to support the clinics.

Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez Masto supports the legislation to penalize centers that provide false information to women. Adam Laxalt, who is running against Masto, supports the clinics. And Joe Lombardo, who is running for governor against Steve Sisolak, paid $1,400 to a crisis pregnancy center in Las Vegas for an election event.
