Discovery Children's Museum is offering a whole week of Harry Potter-themed fun for spring break.

Discovery Children’s Museum in Las Vegas is inviting kids to spend their spring break at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The museum’s Harry Potter-themed activities started over the weekend and run through next week. The focus is on health and fitness for children - March is National Nutrition Month.

"We typically celebrate March as National Nutrition Month and we wanted to make it fun this year," said Tifferney White, the museum’s CEO. "So, we felt like if we added in some literacy and focused on Harry Potter and Dr. Suess it would make more fun for our visitors,"

White said that although the books are almost 20 years old and the final film of the series was released five years ago the franchise is still very popular with children and adults.

White said the theme allowed the staff at the museum to stretch their creative muscles and come up with fun activities that were also educational.

"There's a lot of cool education that's in there that allows us to combine it with healthy eating and healthy lifestyle themes," she said.

White said some of the parents understand the healthy themes in the Harry Potter activities but the kids are just having fun.

"They're just doing what they typically do at the museum: playing and having fun, and through that they're learning, but they don't even realize that's what's going on," she said.
