Las Vegas Activist Sees Similarities In Hong Kong Protests

Las Vegas activist Angie Morelli is paying careful attention to the protests in Hong Kong, which have now gone for five days. Police there have fired teargas into the crowds of protesters who are seeking more democracy. Protesters haven’t fought back though. Instead, they have been photographed doing homework, cleaning graffiti and picking up trash. One headline called them “The World’s Politest Protesters.” Morelli, who owns a T-shirt shop on Decatur Boulevard, sees a lot of similarities between how things are being done there and how she organized a march of more than 3,000 on the Las Vegas Strip in May.
