When Animal Rescue Turns Into Hoarding

A woman in North Las Vegas kept more than 100 cats in her home. The conditions inside that house were barely habitable, according to authorities, and the animals themselves had fallen into bad health.

Cases of animal hoarding often start with good intentions. Animal lovers who want to save as many animals as possible may not realize when they have adopted too many pets. But the problem can lead to illness and death for the animals living in the overcrowded home.

So how can we identify individuals who might be at risk for animal hoarding? And what is the best way to treat the condition?
