A New Strategy for Success in Sports

The London Olympics are just around the corner, and athletes all around the world are fine-tuning their skills.  But one researcher says athletes shouldn’t focus on mechanical things – Kobe Bryant shouldn’t think about how he flicks his wrist for a hoop shot, and Michael Phelps shouldn’t think about the technique on pulling his hand back through the water.  Instead, she says, focusing on things outside your body – like focusing on your tennis racquet, rather than focusing on your hand – is the key to success in sports.  So what's the secret to success in sports?  Professor Gabriele Wulf weighs in with 15 years of research.
