We all crave the shade in the desert, Norm Schilling has some plants that thrive out of the sun.

Pictured right is is "blue elf" aloe in Norm's yard - in the shade! And on the left are the "blue elf" flowers.

Yellow Columbine (Aquilegia chrysantha), pictured right, also grow well in the shade.

Norm is taking part in the Garden Conservancy's Gardening Open Day on April 10th. Here are some details about the four private gardens that will be open to the public on that day in Las Vegas and Henderson: opendays.pdf.

Admission to each private garden is $5.00 and will be open rain or shine with no reservations required. Call 1 (888)842-2442, or visit http://www.opendaysprogram.org for more information.
