Thousands of Californians and people from other states flocked to Las Vegas during the boom times. Jobs were abundant and the Vegas economy seemed unstoppable.
Now, Las Vegas has the worst housing market in the country and casinos and construction companies are slashing jobs. Los Angeles Times reporters Ashley Powers and Michael Hiltzik recently spoke with some Californians who have packed up and headed back to the Golden State and they talk about the people they found who were leaving and those were were determined to wait the recession out. Adam Burke also shares the sounds and experiences of a job fair in the toughest employment market on record in Southern Nevada.
