In the last five years mortgage fraud resulted in 8 billion dollars in Government fines. Only 20 percent of the cases are of the old fraud-for- housing style, in which a person falsifies personal documents so that they can achieve the American dream. Most mortgage fraud now, say the FBI, is fraud-for-profit. KNPR’s Ky Plaskon took a look at the governments’ local mortgage fraud initiative.
