The WNBA has announced penalties for the Las Vegas Aces and head coach Becky Hammon after investigations into allegations the team offered unallowed player benefits and workplace conduct violations.
The WNBA stripped the Las Vegas Aces’ of its 2025 first-round draft pick after it concluded that the Aces violated league rules regarding “impermissible benefits” related to contract negotiations of former player Dearica Hamby.
The league also announced that head coach Becky Hammon would be suspended without pay for two games after allegations she made comments about Hamby’s recent pregnancy.
Other allegations of misconduct by the Aces were brought forth to the WNBA, but the league was unable to substantiate those claims during the investigation.
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said, “The Aces failed to adhere to league rules and regulations and have been disciplined accordingly.” She added, “it is critical that we uphold the values of integrity and fairness, which create a level playing field for our teams."
