More than 160 communities around the country will be receiving funds for transportation improvements from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
The city of Las Vegas will be receiving millions of dollars that will soon have a significant effect on the city.
The federal government is allocating $23.9 million to Las Vegas for the “RAISE" grant program, focuses on revamping downtown around Stewart Avenue.
Congresswoman Dina Titus said Tuesday it will include a number of changes aimed at making downtown safer and more accessible.
“These improvements include sidewalk improvements, bus stop improvements, widening of the streets. [It] will affect all users of the road and will make it safer, will make it equitable, will be sure that it can move more efficiently, and it’s a major improvement that came to the city of Las Vegas," she said.
This is in addition to $6.7 million on top of the $2 million already disbursed to convert the city’s transportation system with a more energy-efficient bus fleet.
