The Las Vegas Raiders have a new team president in Sandra Douglass Morgan. With the announcement, the team made history: She's the first Black female team president in NFL history.
Morgan is known to many in Southern Nevada as the former chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board and the first Black city attorney in the state of Nevada.
She recently worked with the law firm Covington & Burling, and previously served as city attorney for North Las Vegas.
In a written statement, Raiders owner Mark Davis said he was thrilled she agreed to join the team.
"From the moment I met Sandra, I knew she was a force to be reckoned with. We are extremely lucky to have her at the helm," he said.
Morgan called the job an honor.
"This team's arrival in Las Vegas has created a new energy and opportunities we never dreamed possible," she said. "I look forward to taking this team's integrity, spirit and commitment to excellence on the field into every facet of this organization."
The position had been open since Dan Ventrelle was fired by the team in May after less than a year.
