Law enforcement, and other first responders, gather outside Robb Elementary School following a shooting, Tuesday, May 24, 2022, in Uvalde, Texas.

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak ordered flags flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and on state public grounds in honor of the people killed Tuesday at Robb Elementary School in Ulvade, Texas.

Nineteen school children and two teachers were killed in the shooting by an 18-year-old gunman local to the town, police said.

In a statement, Sisolak said the shooting is an example of “senseless loss of life” that is “becoming all too common.”

Sisolak added that as governor, he has taken action to decrease gun violence in Nevada and is “committed to ensuring a future free from these tragedies.”

Flags will fly at half-staff in Nevada until sunset on May 28.
