Education leaders met at Caesars Palace on Friday where the annual State of the Schools address was held.
The effects of the pandemic on education were front and center.
The Chair of the Board of Public Education Foundation Jan Jones Blackhurst reminded those in attendance March 11 marked two years since COVID-19 was declared a pandemic.
She said there was no instruction on how to handle a global pandemic and it was like “being thrown into the deep end of a pool and being told to swim like champions."
Blackhurst aknowledged while there are still long-standing social, emotional and instructional fallout as a result, educators were able to ensure every student had access to remote learning and did their best to ensure safety in the classroom when in-person learning resumed.
This required unprecedented conviction and flexibility.
