A conversation with Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve

Scott Sonner / AP

Hillary Schieve was first elected Reno mayor in November 2014 after serving two years on the City Council. She’s the owner and operator of two businesses in Reno and says that she developed the bug for public service while working with other small businesses to create the city’s Midtown District. That district was partly designed to eliminate  bureaucratic red tape.

Mayor Schieve is a registered non-partisan who says she’s committed to Reno “becoming a hub for tech entrepreneurs and companies, pulling coders and data analysts from the Silicon Valley,” which is four hours to the west.
