German illusionist Siegfried Fischbacher of the duo Siegfried & Roy holds their trophies after receiving the World Entertainment Award at the World Award 2003 ceremony in Hamburg, northern Germany, on Oct 22, 2003.

Siegfried Fischbacher, one-half of the iconic Siegfried and Roy duo that performed on the Strip for five decades, died last night from pancreatic cancer at the age of 81.

His death came eight months after the passing of his magician partner, Roy Horn, who died of complications due to COVID-19.

After the duo began their headlining show at the then-new Mirage in 1989, they became the most popular act on the Strip and remained that way for nearly the entirety of their 12-year run.

And even after their show ended abruptly in 2001, when their tiger Montecore attacked Horn, they were still a visible fixture in Las Vegas, never shying from the public.
