Nevada To Vaccinate Frontline Medical Workers First

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada's governor said that frontline medical workers would be the first to receive the coronavirus vaccine once one is approved.

Gov. Steve Sisolak said Monday that the state is prepared to distribute a vaccine as soon as it's available.

But the state's low influenza vaccination rates and a lack of federal funds suggest distribution could be a challenge. Sisolak said he hoped to return conventions to 50% capacity by January 2021.

But to do so, he said residents will need to double down on their commitment to prevention measures like face-coverings and social distancing in order to contain the surge underway.
